AMPHORA PENDANT

Amphora is such a beautiful shape for a pendant! It may look complex but we will build it step by step in a way that is very beginner-friendly! This is a COMPLETE tutorial that will take you through every stage of making this pendant, from shaping to firing and polishing, in 3 detailed but to-the-point lessons.

You can get creative and customise the shape of your pendant and handles!

IN THIS TUTORIAL, YOU WILL...

  • Sculpt with silver clay

  • Learn an easy way to perfect the shape

  • Make your own clay paste for attaching parts

  • Practice attaching clay wet-to-wet and dry-to-dry

  • Learn a secret to 'hammered' texture

  • Fire with a torch or kiln (instructions given)

  • Learn what you need for a shiny polish

  • Access a list of all the tools with suppliers linked

I will walk you through every stage of making this pendant while giving tips on achieving the shape you want. This tutorial is pre-recorded, so you can access it anytime from anywhere and create at your own pace!

I also show 3 ways this pendant can be worn, so you may need a couple extra bits (like jump rings) depending on how you want to style it. The easiest way - just pull the chain though one of the handles (or even both!) and it will hang very beautifully!

WHAT WILL I NEED?

There is nothing super special you need to make this pendant! The usual silver clay basics like a working surface, a brush with some water, a firing set up and some polishing materials. I used about 6g of silver clay for this (fired in a kiln) so you can use a lot less to make the same shape, especially if torch firing!

Beyond that, since this tutorial requires some sculpting, a couple silicon sculpting tools would be handy. For the hammering texture and mirror polish I use a rotary tool. You don't have to create a hammered texture and can polish with polishing papers if you don't have a rotary tool - it will still look pretty!

A complete list of tools and links where you can buy them are inside the tutorial!
